News Roundup March 18th

by Huey Chewwy in

Tomorrow marks the beginning of Season 1 in Apex Legends, play a “Lite” version of DRAGON BALL Xenoverse 2 for the PS4 and Xbox One beginning on Wednesday, free Splatoon 2 online demo starts tomorrow, and a Nindies Showcase will show off new indie titles coming to the Switch on Wednesday.

So was the first two months a prologue?

Good news Apex Legends fans. Season 1 is set to begin tomorrow with a battle pass to accompany it. Similar to how battle passes work in Fortnite and Rocket League, leveling up unlocks new rewards for each level. Priced at 950 Apex Coins (just about $10), this falls in line with other BR titles.

Also something to keep a lookout for is the new legend that has been leaked for a while, Octane. While he looks like he came straight out of Borderlands, he’ll probably fit right in with the current cast of Apex Legends.

Keep a light touch on the dragon balls

Beginning on Wednesday, March 20th, a “Lite” version of DRAGON BALL Xenoverse 2 can be downloaded for the PS4 or Xbox One for free. If you want to dip your toes into the realm of DRAGON BALL, this could be a good way to do so for no fee. This Lite version of the game includes five story missions, the ability to take part in online battles and online quests, and the option to play in the Hero Colosseum mode with all available content and online matches.

Any progress made in the Lite version will be transferableto the full game so you can pick up right where you left off.

Because Splatfest sounds too dirty

Speaking of free experiences, Nintendo is inviting all Switch players to take part in a Special Demo online event for Splatoon 2. This special event takes place from March 19th 7:00 AM PT to March 26th 6:59 AM. PT. As this takes place exclusively online, you’ll need a Nintendo Switch Online membership to play but don’t fret if you do not have one.

By going to the Nintendo eShop and downloading the Splatoon event demo, you’ll get a 7-Day trial of Nintendo Switch Online.

The train doesn’t stop

Not too long after a recent Nintendo Direct, the company announced today that there will be a Nindies Showcase taking place on Wednesday, March 20th. With the presentation scheduled for about 30 minutes, there should be plenty of games to talk about.
