News Roundup October 3rd

Andrew House stepping down from his positions at Sony, Gran Turismo Sport demo coming next week, Remothered: Tormented Fathers enters Steam Early Access on October 31st, Halloween-themed event for Overwatch returns, and new releases for the week.

Shake up

In an unexpected announcement, Andrew House is no longer the President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.  Effective immediately, those positions will be filled by Deputy President of SIE, John (Tsuyoshi) Kodera.  House will still remain at SIE as Chairman for the remainder of the year to help Kodera ease into his new role.  House is also stepping down from his duties as Executive Vice President, Corporate Executive Officer of Sony Corporation.

This is no doubt a big change at Sony.  Andrew House was with the company for 27 years, becoming the President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment in 11.  From there, he took the reigns of the PlayStation brand and helped with the launch and success of the PS4.  Last year, he was also responsible for merging SCE and SNE to form Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Get in the driver's seat early

Fans of Gran Turismo should be excited by the news that a free demo for Gran Turismo Sport is launching on October 9th.  However, this will be a limited time experience as the demo will officially end on the 12th of October.  But on the bright side, unlocked vehicles and earned in-game credits (up to $1MM) will be transferable to the main game, giving you a little heads-start on the competition.

Watch out for that sickle!

Just in time for Halloween, Remothered: Tormented Fathers will release on Steam via Early Access on October 31st.  The survival horror title looks unique in that there is no focus on guns or big weapons.  Playing as a woman named Rosemary,  you're trying to discover the truth about a girl who disappeared many years ago. If you're into the survival horror genre, this might be one to keep an eye out for.

Not too much of a surprise

Considering the Summer Games event was brought back earlier this year, it only seems appropriate that the Overwatch Halloween Terror event returns as well.  The event begins on October 10th and while nothing has been revealed as of yet, you can expect some new Halloween-themed skins for the characters of Overwatch.
