Assassin's Creed Origins post-launch plans detailed, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands free to play this weekend, Tamagotchi is making a return, and new releases for the week.
Origins is getting plenty of content after launch
We're still a little under three weeks from the release of Assassin's Creed Origins but Ubisoft has already outlined the post-launch plans for the title. As with previous games in the series, Origins will receive a Season Pass that contains two instant goodies and content arriving in two waves. At launch, those who purchase a season pass will receive 500 Helix credits and an exclusive rare weapon, the Helix Blade. Come November, the first wave of season pass content will come in the form of the Roman Centurion and Horus packs. Each one adds a new outfit, mount, shield, and two new weapons.
The second wave starts in January of next year with The Hidden Ones DLC. This piece of content takes place some years after the events in Origins within a new region occupied by Roman forces. Most players will be at max level once this DLC hits which is why Ubisoft will be raising the level cap when The Hidden Ones releases. The second DLC expansion is The Curse of the Pharaohs, taking Bayek to a mystical new realm to battle undead Pharaohs and Egyptian monsters.
Even if you choose not to buy a season pass, there is some additional content coming your way free of charge. Besides the already announced Discovery Tour, The Trials of the Gods puts Bayek in boss battles with Egyptian gods. Rewards will be given for your victory during these special-timed events, with the first one kicking off 15 days after launch. Another addition is that of a wandering merchant who will give you daily quests in exchange for exotic rewards. This daily quest giver will be available at the game's launch. Lastly, a straight up Horde mode is coming to Origins in early 2018. Battle against an endless onslaught of enemies in the Gladiator arena and challenge your friends to beat your score.
Assassin's Creed Origins is an important title for the future of the franchise and it appears Ubisoft and the team behind it are taking this task seriously with post-launch content.
Take a walk in the wild(lands)
In celebration of their new PvP mode, Ghost War, Ubisoft is making Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands free to play this weekend. The free weekend starts on October 12th and ends on the 15th for PC players and the 16th for Xbox One and PS4 owners. The entire game is available to play with no restrictions, including Ghost War. The development team has also made a list of changes to Ghost War after the recent beta, which you can read in the latest development blog.
Feed me, pet me
Long before your mobile games sent you push notifications every 20 minutes, Tamagotchi's were doing that in 1997. For the device's 20th anniversary, Bandai Namco is bringing the device back although it is a little bit smaller than the original version (by about 20 percent). Expected to go on sale at retail for $14.99 starting on November 5th, Bandai Namco seems to be banking on the nostalgia factor. Is this their mini colsole?
