Xbox's E3 show was nothing short of spectacular, let's go over some of the highlights.

First up was Halo 5: Guardians, showcasing a little of the single player campaign featuring Agent Locke and his crew.  What is shown is pretty impressive, with Agent Locke determined to hunt down the Master Chief.  A new multiplayer mode titled Warzone, featuring 24 players battling it out in multiplayer action.  However, you're not only fighting against the other team, but AI enemies such as the Promethians as well.  This mode looks like pure carnage, which no doubt would please any Halo fan.

Microsoft is looking to counter Sony's Playstation Now with the announcement of backwards compatibility for Xbox 360 games.  Save data, achievements, and game add-ons will all carry over to Xbox One.  Xbox One features such as screenshots and Windows 10 streaming will work on Xbox 360 games.  Best of all, multiplayer will be available as well.  If you're an Xbox preview member, you can start testing this feature right now.  Everyone else will have to wait till this holiday to enjoy this feature.  Better yet, the current list of games include both disc and digital games.  Digital games in your library that are on the compatible list will be listed in the "Ready to Install" section on Xbox One.  To download disc based games, simply insert the disc to begin installation.  However, be sure to hang on to your discs as you will need them to start games.

ReCore is a unique first party exclusive to Xbox One from legendary developer Keiji Inafune and the makers of Metroid Prime.  While there was no gameplay, a CG trailer was shown  that eluded to its mechanics.

One of the big questions over the years has been "What the hell is Rare up to?"  Well today, the answer to that question is Sea of Thieves.  Rare is taking the pirate theme and putting a multiplayer spin on it, as you can see in the trailer.  No release date announced, but it's good to see Rare working on something other than Kinect games. (RIP)

Speaking of Rare, did you know they have been around for 30 years?  That's quite a long time, with quite a library of games to boot.  Get ready to relive quite a bit of Rare's history with a collection of games on one disc.  The Rare Replay showcases games that span many different franchises, from Perfect Dark, Battletoads, and Banjo Kazooie.  Other games include RC Pro AM I & II, Jet Force Gemini, and Blast Corps.  The full list of games in the collection can be seen here.

Microsoft's Hololens hasn't exactly been advertised as a game device.  While the Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus have grabbed lots of attention, Hololens has been a little quiet. Today, Microsoft demoed Minecraft running on the Hololens, and it was very impressive.  While it is not likely going to make you go get a Hololens, the sight of seeing Minecraft played in a different capacity is great nonetheless.

Tom Clancy's The Division made an appearance, and while the release date hasn't come back into 2015 an exclusive beta for Xbox One is coming in December.  Top that off with Rainbow Six Siege coming on October 13th, and Ubisoft made some noise at the Xbox E3 conference.  Also buying Rainbow Six Siege on Xbox One will award you Rainbow Six Vegas 1 & 2 for free.

Check out the impressive first gameplay footage of Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Lastly after teasing it for a few days, we finally got our Gears of War news.  After leaked screenshots appeared, the heavily rumored Xbox One remake of the original Gears of War has come to light.  However, that wouldn't be the only news we would hear from the franchise.  Not only the announcement of Gears 4 (oddly dropping "of War" from the title) but gameplay to boot!  Any fan would be satisfied with an announcement but video of the game running is a sweet bonus.  While Gears 4 won't be ready till Holiday you can sign up for the Gears of War Ultimate Edition beta starting today.

EA's conference was little on the light side.  With the showcases of new NBA Live, FIFA, and Madden, there were a few gems.

Mirror's Edge Catalyst is picking up some steam and the above trailer has certainly added some fire.  Featuring free roaming with no load time or set levels, this could be the right time for Mirror's Edge to break through and be

Get ready to explore a new Galaxy in Mass Effect: ANDROMEDA.

A sequel to last year's South Park The Stick of Truth opened Ubisoft's E3 conference.  The crazily titled The Fractured But Whole goes away from the fantasy style of the previous game to a more focus on superheroes.  The humor certainly has not gone away, even poking at the previous' game combat.

Ghost Recon is getting the open world treatment with the latest entry in the franchise.  Ghost Recon Wildlands takes the Ghost team to Bolivia to take down the Santa Blanca drug cartel.

Don't forget about Tom Clancy's The Division.  Watch the trailer above and  check out the Dark Zone by clicking here.

Seems that For Honor is the secret AAA game that Ubisoft had on their recent earnings call.  Using a system known as "The Art of Battle" players use the right stick to dictate their stance and which side they are attacking.  You can see in the gameplay trailer above how this system works.  You can also perform a guard break to give yourself a little bit of time to counter with your own attack.  Basically there is a paper/rock/scissors sort of system going on here: defense beats attack, guard break beats defense, attack beats guard break.  Let's hope that the melee combat system is more responsive then Chivalry.

Series fans of Rainbow Six will be pleased to know that Terrorist Hunt will be making its way back into Rainbow Six Siege.  The beta for Rainbow Six Siege begins on September 24th, so go sign up for the beta on the game's website!

Disney Infinity 3.0 Rise of the Empire starter pack exclusive to PS4 for the holidays.

We got our first glimpse of in-game play in Star Wars Battlefront.  Quite impressive for its debut.  DICE has done a great job of really capturing the designs of the characters and vehicles that roam the battlefield.

And to close out the show, Uncharted 4 A Thief's End was shown again, but not without a slight hiccup at first.  Still the gameplay shows off the great art design that makes the city feel vibrant and alive.
