The big news for today was Amazon acquiring game streaming service Twitch for close to 1 BILLION dollars. Not long ago, it was reported that Google was to buy Twitch for the same amount of money. It is not known at this time what happened that Amazon swooped in and acquired Twitch. CEO of Twitch Emmett Shear has stated that nothing is changing for "the short term," and that nothing will really change about Twitch's service.
In several videos, since been removed from YouTube, seemed to leak several unannounced fighters in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/WiiU. The characters include Wario, Dr. Mario, Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles, Duck Hunt Dog, Bowser Jr., and Ganondorf are the possible leaked characters from the video. Nintendo has "nothing to say" at this time.
Microsoft announced today a new Age of Empires game entitled "Age of Empires: Castle Siege". The newest game in the franchise is surprisingly a "fast-paced touch based" multiplayer game that will be available on Windows 8 PC's, Phones, and Tablets. While Microsoft says this will keep the combat and strategy Age of Empires is known for, it looks awfuly similair to the very popular mobile game Clash of Clans. Another entry in the franchise, Age of Empires World Domination, is set to release sometime this fall on Windows Phone, IOS, and Android devices.
PC players of Diablo III will get new content tomorrow. Patch 2.1.0 will go live and offers lot of new content including new rifts, the new "Season" feature, and Vaults. Further details can be read at the official Diablo III site. Blizzard has said that this patch (minus the Seasons and Leaderboards) will soon make it's way to the console versions but did not specify a date other than "fairly soon."
