We can all pretty much agree that Minecraft is super popular. We like the building, the mobs, the blocks... but we never talk about the story (if there really is one). So if I were to tell you that Telltale is developing an episodic, narrative driven game you would probably laugh. This is no laughing matter as this is truly happening. Revealed as an interactive game titled Info Quest II, Minecraft Story Mode will be arriving sometime in 2015. While Telltale is doing most of the writing, Mojang is also on board to make sure the game stays as "Minecrafty" as possible. The story that will be presented will not be official lore nor follow cover character Steve. Pretty much any device that has a Telltale game on it will have Minecraft Story Mode; Playstation, Xbox, IOS, PC, and Android platforms.
Minecraft has a big update on Xbox platforms, with lots of new things added. Perhaps the biggest addition is horses, which can be found in the wild and then tamed for players to ride. Other new items include hardened clay, stained clay, block of coal, hay bale, wither, witches, and bats to name a few. The full list can be seen here. 4J studios tweeted that this update will be available soon for Playstation platforms as well; just in case you thought this was going to be an Xbox only update. The trailer above showcases some of the new additions, (they also really like horses).
Some big news today on highly anticipated 4 v 1 game Evolve. Wraith is the third monster to be revealed and she looks vicious. She is a monster that will rely on warps and surprise attacks a bit more than other monsters do. Her abduction ability allows her to travel a large distance, grab an enemy, and return to her original location very quickly. Using supernova, Wraith can create large area where her melee powers are super powerful while staying within the created area. While she sounds powerful indeed, Wraith also has the lowest health and armor of the three monsters. Fighting her will be tough, as great communication will be needed.
Also of note is that the Xbox One will be receiving a big open beta for anyone with an Xbox Live Gold account. Starting on January 15th, you will be able to participate in "Hunt", which has 12 maps, 8 hunters, and 2 monsters. Also, on January 17th players will be able to dive into the dynamic campaign mode, "Evacuation." Evacuation is said to be different each time you play, combining all the maps and modes in a unique way. The cherry on top of this awesome news is that all progress made will be carried over to the game when it launches February 10th! The open beta runs from January 15th to the 19th. PC and Playstation 4 players won't get the big open beta as on Xbox One, but will get some more technical tests. They are rather small, and limited to people who played in the Big Alpha, so check your email for an invite. PC players who have Left 4 Dead or Bioshock Infinite in their Steam Library will also have access to this closed technical test. Playstation 4 players will need an active Playstation Plus subscription to play. The start date for these tests on PC and Playstation 4 will be January 16th and 17th respectively.
