News Roundup December 15th

Capcom was a little busy in the news.  Over the weekend first gameplay footage of Street Fighter V was shown and it looks gorgeous.  Also seen is a new character spotted at the end of a trailer, which appears to be Charlie, Guile's commrade who appeared in the Street Fighter Alpha series.  Cross play between PC and PS4 users has been confirmed as well.  This could be a big win for Sony as the game will not be coming to Xbox One.

Capcom today released a trailer showcasing some Street Fighter II outfits for the cat-like creatures in Monster Hunter 4.  Suit up as either Blanka or Chun-Li and prepare to take on the biggest of monsters.  You can see the humorous collaboration video here.

Rounding out the last piece of Capcom news is the announcement of Xbox One and Playstation 4 versions of both DMC Devil May Cry: Definetive Edition and Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition.  DMC is coming with lots of new additions, such as the insanely hard Gods Must Die mode, 60 FPS/1080p on both Xbox One and PS4 versions, and re-balanced gameplay.  Also included will be all DLC released for DMC, which includes costumes, pre-order bonus items, and the "Vergil's Downfall" missions.  All in all, a sweet deal for $39.99, and coming on March 17th.  Unfortunately not much has been revealed for Devil May Cry 4.  Presumably coming in the summer, more information will be released in the coming months.  However, at the end of the announcement trailer for DMC Devil May Cry: Definetive Edition, there is a slight tease.  We see in image of Virgil (looking more closely to his look in Devil May Cry 3), as he says "I need more power!."  If you have played Devil May Cry 4, you know that Virgil was not in the game, which was mentioned in just one line by Dante.  Let's hope that Capcom has something special planned for Devil May Cry 4.

Revealed in a story on IGN, Ciri has been revealed as the other playable character in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.  Described as a "living weapon," little is known about her attack style other than being fast and agile.  Ciri seems to have been added to help enhance the story, rather than a gameplay mechanic.  You will not be able to switch between Gerald and Ciri at will, but It will be interesting to see her perspective in the story.

It appears as Target has nabbed Rosalina & Luma amiibo as a retail exclusive.  Although not formally announced, a listing has been spotted on Target's website.  If the date on the listing is to be believed, the third line of amiibo will release on February 1st of 2015.

A slightly different version of Riptor will be coming to season 2 of Killer Instinct.  Instead of a human/raptor hybrid, Riptor is cybernetically enhanced.  The new Killer Instinct has done a pretty good job of bringing old characters back with an updated look and Riptor is no different.  A gameplay video featuring Riptor can be seen here, and be sure to stay to the end of the trailer, for a teaser of the (presumably) next character.

Expecting patch #4 for Assassin's Creed Unity today?

Ubisoft is holding off on the patch until "we can give you the improvements we've promised."  It can be safe to say that the patch is not quite fixing everything.  This has got to be heartbreaking for Ubisoft, the trouble does not seem to end for Assassin's Creed Unity.  However, if you are still interested in Unity, grab it on Amazon as it is currently 50% off.
